For engineering and design teams, CAD is but one part of a much larger workflow. Drawings need to be stored, managed, version-controlled, and shared across teams, projects, and systems. PLM/PDM connectivity is crucial.
Octave-built connectors for BricsCAD help integrate BricsCAD with two widely used enterprise data-management systems: Autodesk® Vault® Pro and Bentley® ProjectWise®. And for those with BricsCAD Maintenance, these connectors are available at no additional cost through the BricsCAD Application Catalog.
Connect BricsCAD to the systems your teams already use
Large design and engineering projects can involve many people working across a shared set of drawings and related files. Product lifecycle management (PLM) and product data management (PDM) systems help organizations keep that information controlled, organized, and accessible.
For that workflow to work efficiently, your CAD platform also needs to fit into it. The Octave-built PLM/PDM connectors for BricsCAD help bridge that gap, allowing users to work with BricsCAD drawings while keeping project data within the systems their organization currently uses.
Two connectors are currently available:
Autodesk® Vault® Pro integration
The Autodesk® Vault® Pro Integration connects BricsCAD with the Vault® data-management platform. It allows BricsCAD users to securely store, version-control, and manage drawings and related files directly within Vault®. This helps teams maintain control over design data while continuing to work in BricsCAD.
For organizations that use Vault® as part of their engineering data environment, the connector helps bring BricsCAD into that existing workflow rather than creating a separate process for BricsCAD files.
Bentley® ProjectWise® plugin
The Bentley® ProjectWise® Plugin connects BricsCAD with Bentley’s design-integration and document-management system. Users can work with ProjectWise® directly from BricsCAD, helping ensure that drawings and related files are created, stored, retrieved, and managed securely and efficiently. This allows teams using ProjectWise® to include BricsCAD in their established project and document management processes.
For a real-world example, Egis uses BricsCAD across its infrastructure and urban development projects, with ProjectWise® forming part of its wider project environment. Watch the Egis customer story.
More value from BricsCAD Maintenance
Access to these Octave-built connectors is one of the benefits included with BricsCAD Maintenance. Maintenance is most often associated with staying up to date with the latest BricsCAD releases and having access to priority technical support. That’s true, but it also helps organizations get more from BricsCAD by connecting it with their existing systems.
That especially matters for teams working with enterprise systems, as CAD does not operate in isolation. The ability to connect BricsCAD with the tools used to manage engineering and project data can help support a more complete end-to-end workflow.
Keeping your Maintenance active means you can continue to benefit from the latest BricsCAD versions and support, as well as additional tools such as these PLM/PDM connectors.
It also helps you avoid the wider costs of letting Maintenance lapse. Under BricsCAD’s three-version upgrade policy, an older version can eventually fall outside the upgrade window, while teams can also lose access to Maintenance benefits that support their day-to-day workflows.
How to access the BricsCAD PLM/PDM connectors
The Autodesk® Vault® Pro Integration and Bentley® ProjectWise® Plugin are available through the BricsCAD Application Catalog. Maintenance customers can request access at no additional cost by opening the relevant connector page, selecting Download and filing a Support Request.
If your organization uses Autodesk® Vault® Pro or Bentley® ProjectWise®, the connectors can help you bring BricsCAD into the data-management workflows you rely on, while getting even more value from your BricsCAD Maintenance plan.
